We Tell Stories and the Culver City Julian Dixon Library celebrate the County of Los Angeles Public Library's Summer Reading Program, “Be Creative @ Your Library,” with 8 different performances about creativity and imagination. Shows are interactive, multi-cultural, and educational blending laughter and literacy together for fun-filled afternoons for parents and children alike.
“Be Creative @ Your Library” Performance Schedule
• Wednesday, July 1 at 2 pm
“Flying” - Stories about flight including the famous Greek myth
“Daedalus and Icarus.”
• Wednesday, July 8 at 2 pm
“Music”– A French fable, an African American rap poem, and an
African folktale entertain with musical elements.
• Wednesday, July 15 at 2 pm
“Riddles” – British, Nordic, and Chinese stories that tickle the mind.
• Wednesday, July 22 at 2 pm
“Creation Myths” – Multi-cultural myths that ancients told about the
beginning of the world.
• Wednesday, July 29 at 2 pm
“How & Why?”– Charming ‘Pourquoi’ folktales from Greece, Africa,
and Vietnam that explain natural phenomena.
• Wednesday, August 5 at 2 pm
“Tricksters” - Chronicles of fun-loving tricksters from around the
world.
• Wednesday, August 12 at 2 pm
“Magic” – Tales from Japan, Nicaragua, and Columbia with magical
creatures.
• Wednesday, August 19 at 2 pm
“Fiesta La Ballona” – Stories that celebrate Culver City’s heritage
and the annual Fiesta La Ballona.
